Comrades;
As many know, London Underground is in the process of engineering another jobs attack. The RMT is taking a proactive stance in preparations for the changes, and part of this is to renew solidarity amongst all grades. Now more than ever it is vital that we reinvigorate our members and show an energised union presence in the workplace.
A major opportunity to do this is at our monthly Station Staff Recruitment and Retention day. I write you to request that you would send some representatives from your group and branch to our next Station Staff Recruitment and Retention day.
Loss of Earnings
Our union is powered by the invaluable voluntary work of our reps, activists and members, where possible the RMT will make provisions to ensure that our members do not loss money while carrying out our good work. This is why the RMT London Transport Region has set aside some funds to reimburse members who have taken leave from work to come out on these Recruitment and Retention days. Payment will be sent within 3 working days of the Day and is equivalent to a CSA's daily rate after tax.
Please let activists and members curious about union activity know about this arrangement, as it has played a key part in activating members in the past. Please advise them on how to apply for "special leave unpaid" so the can come and join the fight.
Our next Station Staff Recruitment day is on
Thursday 28th of March
Camden no. 3 Branch meet 1030 am at Euston Station
And will end the recruitment day with a report at the Stations and Revenue Grades Committee meeting, starting at 1430, Exmouth Arms, Starcross St, NW1. (nearest stations: Euston & Euston Sq.)
