RMT Defends London Underground Staffing Levels

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

We note the resolution from our London Transport Regional Council and share its determination to protect members’ jobs and London Underground staffing levels. London Underground has already cut staffing levels to dangerously low levels, and should be considering increasing rather than further cutting them.

We instruct the General Secretary to ensure that the points outlined in the resolution have been raised with London Underground, and to place a report in front of us of the company’s response.

As requested by the Regional Council, we instruct the General Secretary to liaise with other London Underground trade unions in raising this issue and in pursuing any industrial action that we might consider appropriate should LUL fail to reach agreement with us to protect staffing levels.

London Transport Regional Council and all branches with London Underground members to be advised.
