When negotiations fail, RMT members take action
RAIL UNION RMT confirmed today that balloting for strike action and action short of a strike will begin this week on three main train services: South West Trains, Greater Anglia and First Great Western.
Ballot papers will be sent to members this week with the votes closing on thursday 19th July.
STAFF WORKING directly for Transport for London will go ahead with strike action on Sunday over the total and abject failure of the organisation to offer any kind of recognition and reward for the huge increase in workload and pressure arising from the extended Olympics period and for attempting to impose changes to working conditions and a unilateral ban on annual leave in some departments.

RMT has reconvened at ACAS again today for a second round of talks with London Underground, London Underground has presented a document with their proposals to RMT's demands to settle the dispute.
RMT is now interrogating this document and putting forward our opinion on it.

Recognised members in Travel Information Call Centre, Travel Information Centres, all areas of Oyster, Lost Property Office & Customer Services voted 63% in favour of strike action and 77% in favour of action short of the strike.
This is a decisive mandate for industrial action and a clear message that TfL RMT members will fight to defend their current terms & conditions and for the fair and decent reward they deserve for the additional Olympic and Paralympic workloads.

Many of you will be aware that all bus companies serving London may be on strike this coming Friday (at the time of writing this a deal may be be on offer).
We met with management today to raise concerns about overcrowding on stations and the knock on effect. Management have stated that they feel the existing arrangements in place for crowd control are acceptable.
Branches are advised that the recent ‘Yes’ vote in the above ballot has now been considered by the General Grades Committee and has made the following decision:-
