Tube industrial action called

19th January 2022

Dear Colleagues,

DEFEND JOBS, PENSIONS AND AGREEMENTS – LONDON UNDERGROUND

INDUSTRIAL ACTION CALLED

As you will be aware, your RMT Reps attended a meeting last week to discuss the solid mandate for action which you and your colleagues returned in the recent ballot. Following further discussions with level 2 reps in each function, the National Executive Committee has considered this matter and taken the decision to call industrial action as detailed below.

From 00:01 hours on Wednesday 2nd February 2022, all members are instructed as follows:-

  • Not to familiarise staff who do not usually work at a location
  • No training of staff for roles that are outside of their normal substantive role
  • No undertaking of training that is outside of a member’s normal substantive role

You have all shown that you are prepared to stand together to resist attacks on your jobs, pensions and working arrangements and I urge you all to support the above actions. It is disgraceful that management have been offered a £12m bonus pot to impose these attacks on you and your colleagues rather than rewarding you for your commitment to delivering essential services throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond.

The Union is determined that our simple and straightforward demands for jobs, pensions and agreements to be protected are met and RMT is currently considering options for further action if these commitments are not forthcoming.

I will keep you advised of all further developments.

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch
General Secretary
