RMT prepared to defend unfairly sacked disabled Bond Street station worker

DISMISSAL, R. GARD, CSA, BOND STREET – LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/4/1)

The following resolution was recently received from our Central Line West Branch:-

“This Branch notes the case of CSA Rachel Gard, from Bond Street, who was sacked for having a disability, Type 1 Diabetes. This Branch further notes the harassment Rachel has also received. This Branch calls the GGC to ballot on the following, with a view for full reinstatement.

All RMT members on the Bond Street Group for strike action and action short of a strike. All RMT members in BCV Revenue Control for action short of strike. This to be extended to all grades on the Central Line should management not see sense.

Furthermore, this Branch calls on either the General Secretary or one of the Assistant General Secretaries to urgently seek a meeting with the Chief Operating Officer or Managing Director of London Underground to discuss Rachel’s case and press for reinstatement”.

Along with additional correspondence on file, this matter has been considered by the General Grades Committee, which has noted that a Directors Review is taking place and has taken the decision to prepare a ballot matrix of Station and Revenue Staff covered by the Central Line West Branch as outlined in the resolution. I am currently acting in accordance with this decision and will keep you advised of all further developments.
