Young Members Course to be held at the AGM in Isle of Man Sunday 29nd June to Friday 3rd July 2009
I am pleased to advise you that the Union will be holding a one week Young Representatives Course at this years’ AGM.
Members wishing to attend should be under 30 years of age. The course will deal with: -
Seven Israeli teenagers are refusing to serve in Israel's army because they object to Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories. Known as the Shministim, they are all 18 or 19 years old, have been called up for military service but have refused to go, and are now in prison.

To help young people find decent housing in the economic downturn, the TUC has today [Friday 5 December] published A Place to Live today.
A Place to Live is a new housing advice guide for young people. The comprehensive leaflet presents the housing options available for young people, from living with parents or in rented accommodation, through to buying their own home.

Young Members’ Conference 2009
I am pleased to advise you that we will be holding the RMT Young Members’ Conference in Birmingham on Saturday & Sunday, 28th February & 1st March 2009.
Branches are invited to submit items for the agenda. The items must be relevant to young members in the union.
Branches and Regional Councils are invited to nominate up to four delegates to attend conference, delegates must be no older than 30 years of age at the start date of the conference.

The London Transport region of the RMT recently held a training day for young members who want to become more active in the union. A Young Members' group has been setup and a Regional Young Members' officer has been elected.
The Young Members' group wishes to inspire members of the RMT under 30 to become more actively involved in the union. We have already started this by visiting depots and other workplaces, asking various young members what would get them involved in the union. Because of this activity some young members are becoming active for the first time.
