London Overground Safety Security Staff On Strike Today

TRANSPORT UNION RMT confirmed today that security and safety staff employed by STM Security Group on London Overground services will be taking both strike action and action short of a strike this Saturday in a dispute over bullying and an attempt to impose new terms and conditions. Spurs, Crystal Palace and West Ham all have home games on that day.

RMT Has Serious Concerns Despite 2012 Pay Rise Offer From TFL Being Slightly Improved

We note the revised pay offer from Transport for London. Although this does contain some improvements on the original offer, RMT representatives continue to have serious concerns, including:

  • the maximum of 5% on next year’s pay rise, which sets a bad precedent and would leave our members facing a pay cut should RPI be higher than this;
  • the additional 0.5% for 2013 being dependant on acceptance of a new Performance- Related Pay scheme
  • that the 75% Rail Reimbursement Scheme continues to be renewed within pay deals rather than made permanent

RMT To Push For Free Travel on Cable Car And River Boats for All London Transport Workers

We welcome the resolution from our East Ham branch and agree that all staff working for TfL and its
subsidiaries, franchisees and contractors should be granted free travel on all its services - including the
cable car and riverboat services - for themselves and a nominee. We instruct the General Secretary to
write to Transport for London accordingly, requesting a meeting to discuss this.

We also instruct the General Secretary to place in front of us a report on the prospects of an RMT recruitment and organising campaign on the Emirates Airline Cable Car.

Tube Lines Members To Strike Again In Fight For A Decent Pension

We note the correspondence giving the views of the strike committee formed by our Tube Lines reps.

In line with this, we instruct our Tube Lines members to take industrial action as follows:

  • Not to book on for any shift starting on or after 06:00 on Friday 2 November, resuming to shifts starting after 05:59 on Saturday 3 November.
  • Not to work overtime at any time on Saturday 3 November.

Letter To Tube Lines Members Regarding Industrial Action On Pensions & Passes Dispute

I refer to my previous letter of 28th September 2012 in support of Tube Line members’ demands for equal pension and travel benefits. As you will recall the RMT General Grades Committee requested support for an overtime ban over the weekend of 5 th to 8th October 2012. I am pleased to inform you that this action was well observed by RMT members.

So that our members’ demands are met in full the General Grades Committee has considered further action and request that you support the following action:

We note the research information on file, and the views expressed by our representatives at our meeting on Monday 8 October. We instruct the General Secretary to publicise this information to members, in particular RMT’s recent submission to the GLA and our raising of this issue in Parliament through a question and Early Day Motion. We ask members to lobby their MPs to support this EDM.

Tube Lines Representatives Will Not Agree Any New Rosters

We note the report from the Assistant General Secretary and in accordance with this, instruct our representatives not to agree any new rosters, and instruct our members to take industrial action as follows:

  • in the event that management attempt to impose a new roster, to refuse to co-operate with it and to continue to work to the existing roster.

A personal letter is to be sent to all members involved.

London Transport Regional Council, branches and Tube Lines representatives to be advised.

LUL Uniform Consultation Committee Release Request To Be Addressed As Part Of Review Into Machinery Of Negotiation

We note that London Underground’s response to our request for release for our representatives on London Underground’s Uniform Consultative Committee for one day prior to the agenda deadline for the meeting to consult and prepare, and one day to report back.

This issue will now be addressed as part of the forthcoming review of machineries. This decision and associated correspondence is therefore to be added to the file LUL/0005 MACHINERY OF NEGOTIATION AND CONSULTATION – LONDON UNDERGROUND.

Ballots To Begin Over Anti Social Rosters For Tube Lines Members At West Ruislip Depot

We note the report on file. We are appalled that Tube Lines management are attempting to impose an anti-social roster on our members.

We instruct the General Secretary to organise an immediate ballot for strikes and action short of strikes of the members involved, to the shortest practical time scale, and to send a personal letter to all those being balloted urging them strongly to vote Yes to both questions.
