Tube Bosses leaving stations unstaffed

Tube bosses are leaving stations unstaffed during traffic hours. It will come as no surprise to those of us who work on the Tube, but the 'revelation' was described as an exclusive by BBC London News today.

The BBC report states that:

"Four years ago today Transport for London (TfL) announced all London Underground ticket offices would be shut. 

ISS KAD DLR strike ballot called after company disregards union's serious concerns

We note the report from the Lead Officer and correspondence from our Docklands Light Railway Branch; and that despite the union declaring a dispute back on the 4th October 2017, undertakings and promises made in talks by the company and prompts from our DLR Branch; that the company is disregarding our serious concerns and security issues.

This breakdown in industrial relations recklessly embarked on by the company is matched and exceeded by our members resolve to have their concerns addressed to their complete satisfaction.

Strike ballot called over Christmas working arrangements

We note the resolution from our LU Engineering Branch regarding the appalling treatment of our members in Asset Operations when it comes to recognising the severe impact that Christmas working has on family life.

We also note that payments are available for all or part of this period in other areas such as Major Projects, Tube Lines and for Train Drivers and this NEC agree with our branches demand at least parity and recognition for working these days.

Kings Cross fire 30th anniversary

The government's consultation on transport accessibility has extended its deadline to Wednesday 22 November. Anyone can submit their views. RMT has made a submission and leafleted everyone at the recent Disabled People's Summit asking them to submit evidence in support of retaining guards on trains. Details on how to submit are here.

VGC Works Train Controller members to be balloted for strike action

We note the report from the Lead Officer along with correspondence from LU Engineering Branch regarding the Work Train Controller members on the VGC Crossrail Project whose rate of pay is approximately half that of other grades.

Despite this matter being raised as a collective grievance, the rate of pay has not been corrected and the Lead Officer has requested a dispute situation and ballot for industrial action over this matter.

Transplant Maintenance Duty Managers, Team leaders and Advanced Train Maintainers industrial action

We note the report from our Lead Officer; and that no response has been forthcoming from the company since a Failure to Agree was declared by the RMT at
the Company Council Meeting in September 2017.
The train prep payment being denied to some of our Transplant Members performing that duty is intolerable to our Members, and the company’s attempting to ignore their claim for parity will not be tolerated.
We therefore instruct the General Secretary to advise the company we are now in dispute and immediately ballot the following Transplant Members for Industrial

Transplant Maintenance and Stores Staff pay parity dispute

We note the report from our Lead Officer; and that no response has been forthcoming from the company since a dispute was declared by the RMT NEC on 17 th October 2017.

The situation of lack of pay parity amongst our Transplant Members is intolerable to our Members, and the company’s attempting to ignore their claim for parity and the dispute will not be tolerated.

We therefore instruct the General Secretary to immediately ballot the following Transplant Members for Industrial Actions:
