What is a National Executive Committee decision?

This article is an 'executive decision' which has been written by the RMT National Executive Committee. The National Executive is the union's governing body in between AGMs. Its decisions set out what the union will do on a particular issue.

These decisions can often be brief, and may be one of several passed over a period of time. To get a better understanding or find out more information about what the RMT is doing, speak to your rep or attend your branch or Regional Council meeting.

RMT prepares ground for ballot of all drivers to defend unfairly sacked brother Bailey

That we note that the recent meeting of Train Operator Industrial Reps required a combine wide Train Operators ballot following numerous demands from other branches across the tube combine for re-instatement of Bro Paul Bailey.

We instruct the General Secretary to prepare a ballot matrix of all Train Operators and Operator Instructors across all lines on the London Underground combine, and to ensure an effective dispute escalation campaign is undertaken in preparation including:

A leaflet aimed at the public that can be used for members too
A significant article in the RMT News
A video message which sets out the elements of the dispute

Further; we instruct the General Secretary to provide a progress report on this campaign by the end of the second week in January 2019; and organise a meeting of all Train Operator Industrial & Safety Reps from the entirety of the tube network, with the NEC, Lead Officer and Senior Assistant General Secretary in attendance.

We remain open for talks with the company.

Members to be advised by email and text.

All operational branches and the London Transport Regional Council to be advised.
