RMT prepares ground for ballot of all drivers to defend unfairly sacked brother Bailey

That we note that the recent meeting of Train Operator Industrial Reps required a combine wide Train Operators ballot following numerous demands from other branches across the tube combine for re-instatement of Bro Paul Bailey.

We instruct the General Secretary to prepare a ballot matrix of all Train Operators and Operator Instructors across all lines on the London Underground combine, and to ensure an effective dispute escalation campaign is undertaken in preparation including:

RMT names more strike action in defence of brother Bailey

21st November 2018

DISMISSAL, P. BAILEY - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/4/1)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/463/18, 26th October 2018), the following two resolutions have been received from Central Line East Branch:-

“Following the outstanding show of solidarity on our last action on Nov 7th. The Central Line East Branch calls upon the NEC to name new strike action dates for Train Operators on both our industrial relations dispute and our Paul Bailey reinstatement dispute on the Central Line. We wish to strike as follows.

Strike action announced in Paul Bailey unfair sacking dispute

Subject: DISMISSAL, P. BAILEY – LONDON UNDERGROUND That we note the resolution from our Central Line East Branch; and applaud their resolve to continue fighting the scandalous sacking of Bro Bailey for NOT failing a drugs & alcohol test; which even the company now have reluctantly admitted is concerning so much so that they are to be undertaking a review of their whole D&A procedure.

Central Line drivers to strike to defend Paul Bailey

That we note following consulting our members in both Central Line East & West Branches our members wish to undertake strike action in defence of their victimised brother Paul Bailey. We therefore instruct all Train Operators and Operator Instructors not to book on for shifts from 00:01hrs to 23:59hrs on Wednesday 7th November 2018. Members to be advised by email and text. Central Line East & West Branches and the London Transport Regional Council to be advised.

All Central Line drivers to be balloted for strike in defense of brother Bailey

We congratulate both our Central Line branches for standing firm behind our Brother Paul Bailey, and resisting the stitch up being perpetrated against him by the company who have now upheld his dismissal on appeal and refused to grant the union a Directors Review.

This travesty calls into question the integrity of the entire drugs and alcohol policy and testing regime.

We instruct the General Secretary to immediately ballot our Driver Operators and Operator Instructors at all depots on the Central Line for Strike Action.

Members to be advised by email and text.

Defend Paul Bailey: unfairly sacked after passing a drug test

Paul Bailey, a driver at Leytonstone, remains sacked for passing a random drug and alcohol test.

The Head of Central Line Operations and the manager responsible for hearing Paul’s recent appeal, upheld the crazy CDI decision to dismiss Paul, despite all the evidence.

Ballot prepared for all London Underground grades over Paul Bailey unfair sacking

This NEC is appalled by London Undergrounds shocking handling of the Paul Bailey case.

We note that this travesty calls into question the integrity of the entire drugs and alcohol policy and testing regime. Due to the potential consequences of this sacking
being upheld at appeal in the event of this occurring we instruct the General Secretary to immediately prepare a ballot matrix for all grades on London Underground at all locations.

All London Underground branches and the London Transport Regional Council to be advised.
