Detrainment Ballot successful, action called

2nd March 2023

Dear Colleagues,

REMOVAL OF DETRAINMENT STAFF - LONDON UNDERGROUND

I write to advise you that the ballot has now closed and the result is as follows:-

Are you prepared to take strike action?

Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot:      693

Number of votes cast in the ballot:                                         417

Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question:               385

Number of individuals answering “No” to the question:                32

Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned:     0

Are you prepared to take industrial action short of a strike?

Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot:      693

Number of votes cast in the ballot: 417

Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question:               409

Number of individuals answering “No” to the question:                5

Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned:     3

Both of the above results exceed the statutory thresholds. The National Executive Committee has congratulated all members and taken the decision to instruct all affected members to take industrial action as follows:

Drivers to physically check their train before detraining from Friday 17th March, until further notice

I urge you all to support this action and fight back against the Company's dangerous imposition of the 'flash and dash' procedure for detrainments, which is unsafe for you and your colleagues and motivated solely by a desire to save money.

SUPPORT YOUR UNION - SUPPORT THE ACTION

I will of course keep you advised of all further developments.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Lynch

General Secretary
