We congratulate our members for taking this firm stance against the development of ‘driverless trains’, and note that London Underground Ltd states that it is not proceeding with these tests.

London Overground Safety Security Staff On Strike Today

TRANSPORT UNION RMT confirmed today that security and safety staff employed by STM Security Group on London Overground services will be taking both strike action and action short of a strike this Saturday in a dispute over bullying and an attempt to impose new terms and conditions. Spurs, Crystal Palace and West Ham all have home games on that day.

Following a unanimous vote for action in a ballot this month, management have been informed that RMT members will be ;

Engineering Works Cancelled And Safety Fears Raised In Run Up To Tube Lines Pension Strike

A NEW wave of tube strike action and overtime bans has led to the cancellation of tens of millions of pounds worth of essential engineering works on the Northern Line this weekend and has raised new safety fears as the Emergency Response Unit join with fellow Tube Lines staff in support of a long-running dispute over pensions and benefits justice.

The action will take place as follows:

Tube Lines members are instructed not to book on for any turns of duty that commence between: -

0600 hours Thursday 1st November 2012 until 05.59 Friday 2nd November 2012.

Also members are instructed to refuse to work any over time from

0600 hours Thursday 1st November 2012 until 05.59 hours Monday 5th November 2012.

Solidarity Amongst Tube Lines Members In Industrial Action Leads To Cancellation Of Tube Engineering Works

I refer to my previous letter of 26th October 2012, as a result the solidarity and determination you have shown in pursuing your claim to have the same pension and travel rights as other LUL workers, I wish to bring to your attention the effect your action is having on planned engineering work this coming week end 3rd and 4th November 2012.

STM Security Group Travel Safe Officers Working On London Overground To Strike Over Bullying And Intimidation

Our Travel Safe Officer members and union representatives are being subjected to bullying and intimidation by STM Security Group (UK) Ltd. Despite several warnings from the union, management continue to subject our members to this appalling treatment.

The General Grades Committee has considered this matter and has taken the following decision:

  • taking strike action and not signing on for any shifts between 00:01 hours and 23:59 hours on Saturday 03rd November 2012.
  • and by way of action short of strike action to not do any overtime or shift changes for any shifts between 00:01 hours and 23:59 hours on Saturday 03rd November 2012.

Tube Lines Members To Strike At Beginning Of November Over Pension & Passes Dispute

We note the correspondence giving the views of the strike committee formed by our Tube Lines reps.

In line with this, we instruct our Tube Lines members to take industrial action as follows:

  • Not to book on for any shift starting on or after 06:00 on Thursday 1 November, resuming to shifts starting after 05:59 on Friday 2 November.
  • Not to work overtime at any time between 06:00 on Thursday 1 November and 06:00 on Monday 5 November.

We instruct the General Secretary to:

We welcome the positive response so far to our call for nationally-coordinated industrial action of our current disputes with cleaning companies.

We instruct the General Secretary to convene a meeting of GGC members with lead officers and representatives of the current disputes involving cleaners as soon as is practical, to discuss plans for co-ordinated industrial action in line with our previous decisions. A report of this meeting to be placed in front of the GGC promptly after the meeting.

Industrial Action On The Victoria Line Revised Following Developments

We note the views expressed by our representatives at our meeting on 8 October, and reaffirm the following industrial action, instructing our Victoria line driver members to:

  1. NOT to recognise the imposed sensitive edge door procedure and to work the previous safer instruction. i.e. go back to the carriage concerned and physically check the cause of activation.
  2. NOT to sign for the new Defective In Service Instruction (D.I.S.I.) handbook and not to recognise this as a condition of service and to work to the previous D.I.S.I. book.

Ballots To Begin Over Anti Social Rosters For Tube Lines Members At West Ruislip Depot

We note the report on file. We are appalled that Tube Lines management are attempting to impose an anti-social roster on our members.

We instruct the General Secretary to organise an immediate ballot for strikes and action short of strikes of the members involved, to the shortest practical time scale, and to send a personal letter to all those being balloted urging them strongly to vote Yes to both questions.

STM are contracted to provide safety and security services on London Overground stations.

Despite several warnings from RMT, management at STM Security Group have continued to bully and intimidate our Travel Safe Officer member’s and union representatives.
