When negotiations fail, RMT members take action

Station overtime ban announced

Dear Colleagues,

DEFENDING JOBS, PENSIONS & AGREEMENTS - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/2)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/148/23, 24th May 2023), I wrote to LUL seeking talks in an effort to make progress over this dispute and in particular, the new rosters and staffing cuts which have been imposed on stations leading to unprecedented levels of station closures and a deterioration of members' work life balance. The clear need for full and proper station staffing has been further highlighted by recent serious assaults on station staff.

Vote YES to defend your job, pensions and agreements

Dear Colleague,

DEFENDING JOBS, PENSIONS & AGREEMENTS - LONDON UNDERGROUND

Your ballot paper for the re-ballot to defend your jobs, pensions and agreements was posted to your home address on Monday 24th April so please look out for it arriving in the post this week.

I have produced a video, along with your Lead Officer and NEC member, giving an update on the current position in this long-running dispute and the need for all members to vote YES to both questions in the reballot.

Dear Colleagues,

Further to my previous Circular (IR/052/23. 28th February 2023), a resolution has been received from our Hammersmith & City Branch, regarding the imposition of new rosters. The Company has not properly consulted our Reps over these rosters which are unworkable, and members wish to fight back against the detrimental effect these cuts will have, including on their work/life balance.

As RMT members at the TOCs and Network Rail prepare to take further strike action on 18th and 20th August and members at London Underground and London Overground on the 19th August, please join General Secretary Mick Lynch and the rest of the Union's leadership at an online rally on Wednesday 17th August at 6pm in support of the Union's campaigns to defend jobs, pay and conditions.

Overtime works against us

Why working overtime works against us…

The sudden sharp increase in station closures demonstrates what we always knew; the job requires more station staff, not fewer.

LU has made clear its intention to get shot of around 600 CSA posts. Talks between RMT and LU have gone nowhere but the strength of the strikes on 1st/3rd March forced a partial (temporary) climbdown on pensions and now LU is looking to take on a grade or a function at a time.

Video: If a Tube strike 'costs' London £50m a day, how much do Tube workers generate for the economy?

If a Tube strike costs London £50m a day, then it would follow that we generate £18,250,000,000 a year - that's over 18 billion pound!

Watch Jared Wood, our National Executive Committee representative, discuss that and the importance of voting YES YES in our re-ballot.
