Tube members vote YES for strike

London Transport Union RMT confirms members vote yes for action as London Underground refuse to give assurances on jobs, pensions and working conditions.

LONDON TRANSPORT UNION RMT confirmed that members voted yes for strike action and action short of a strike in a ballot of over ten thousand members across all grades of LU staff that closed today. 94% of members voted to strike.

The ballot took place after LUL members were refused assurances on jobs, pensions and working conditions in the midst of an on-going financial crisis driven by central Government.

Number of votes cast in the ballot: 5,219

Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question: 4,900

Night Tube strike back on from tomorrow

RMT confirms further strike action goes ahead on Night Tube from tomorrow through to the summer.

TUBE UNION RMT today confirmed strike action goes ahead every weekend on the Night Tube from tomorrow through to June in an on-going fight to prevent the ripping up of staffing arrangements that would wreck the work life balance of drivers.

RMT members on the Central and Victoria Lines will be taking strike action as follows:

RMT National Executive Council member Jared Wood reminds members of the importance to return ballot papers in our dispute to defend jobs, pensions and working conditions.

Jared says "Get your ballot paper back. Once we've done that the boot will be on the other foot. We will have a strike mandate and then TfL, the mayor and our managers will have to listen to us"

Brendan Barber, chair of the ongoing ‘Independent Review’ claims the purpose of the review is to move TFL’s pension arrangements into a ‘financially sustainable position’.

TFL PENSION FUND - INDEPENDENT REVIEW

You need to vote YES in the ballot to defend your pension. We can't let the Government and TfL leave you in poverty when you retire.

I refer to my previous email of 10th November 2021, you will now be aware that the RMT have formally informed TfL management that we are now in dispute with them over jobs, pensions and working conditions and as a result over 10,000 of our members across LUL and TfL are currently being balloted for industrial action.
