London Underground Olympic Recognition And Reward

Here is the latest circular official from General Secretary Bob Crow (LUL/22/2)

OLYMPIC RECOGNITION AND REWARD – TRANSPORT FOR LONDON (LONDON UNDERGROUND) (LUL/22/2)

As you may be aware, we have been in negotiations with London Underground over Olympic Recognition and Reward. The company’s offer has been considered by your General Grades Committee and has been rejected as it compares less favourably with deals achieved such as London Overground and Network Rail. Please find attached a copy of the offer.

The General Grades Committee has rejected the offer for the following reasons:

  • The money offered is not an adequate reward for our members.
  • The £100 will not be paid unless the targets are met.
  • The £20 per shift amounts to only around £400, and that those who have leave or sickness (except caused by assault) will receive less or nothing.
  • There is no reward for the increased workload taken on by staff.
  • Unlike offers from other companies, this offer does not reward staff for work during the run-up to the Games or the period between the Olympics and the Paralympics
  • It is the company’s intention to pay an additional £500 to drivers, but not to pay an additional sum to any other grade. This is not acceptable to this union.
  • The company has attached ‘flexibility’ conditions to the offer about which we have serious concerns.

I can confirm that we remain committed to achieving a fair deal for all London Underground members and further talks are scheduled to take place with the company on 6th February 2012. I will of course update you any developments.
