Dear Colleagues,
4-DAY WORKING WEEK & TRAINS FUNCTIONAL COUNCIL REPRESENTATION - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/0004)
Further to my previous Circular (IR/063/26, 27th February 2026), I have previously advised the Company that the Trains Functional Council is not the correct forum for discussions over this dispute and when I informed LUL of members' magnificent ballot result, I also urged the Company to attend urgent talks at the appropriate level of dispute resolution. However, LUL has made no attempt to meet or hold any discussions with the Union over this matter.
Our Level 1 and Trains Functional Council Reps met with the Lead Officer and NEC member yesterday to discuss this matter and our response to LUL's imposition of an unacceptable compressed working week. The Reps also advised of concerns amongst members that they will be imminently asked to use new iPads.
The National Executive Committee has considered this matter and taken the decision to call the following industrial action. All Train Operator, Train Operator (Night Tube) and Instructor Operator members are instructed NOT TO BOOK ON for any shifts that commence between:
·12:00 (midday) hours on Tuesday 24th March to 11:59 hours on Wednesday 25th March
·12:00 (midday) hours on Thursday 26th March to 11:59 hours on Friday 27th March
·12:00 (midday) hours on Tuesday 21st April to 11:59 hours on Wednesday 22nd April
·12:00 (midday) hours on Thursday 23rd April to 11:59 hours on Friday 24th April
·12:00 (midday) hours on Tuesday 19th May to 11:59 hours on Wednesday 20th May
·12:00 (midday) hours on Thursday 21st May to 11:59 hours on Friday 22nd May
Also, all Train Operator, Instructor Operator and Train Operator (Night Tube) members are instructed not to use any new company-issued electronic devices from 00:01 hours on Friday 20th March, until further notice.
I urge all RMT members to show their full support for their colleagues taking part in this action and I will of course keep Branches advised of all further developments.
Yours sincerely,
Eddie Dempsey
General Secretary
