RMT Members Elect New London Transport Regional Organiser

RMT members have elected Steve Hedley as our new London Transport Regional Organiser.

The result was as follows: 12,724 ballot papers were issued, 3071 (24%) were returned. 1,772 (58%) voted for Steve Hedley; 1,292 (42%) for Neil Hodgson.

Oliver New, our region's representative on the RMT Executive, said: "Congratulations to Steve Hedley who has been elected Regional Organiser by the members of the LT Region. Now let's unite against the bosses in 2009!"

Docklands Light Railway control staff ballot over imposed rosters

MEMBERS OF Britain's biggest rail union working in the control room of Docklands Light Railway are being balloted for industrial action over the imposition of new rosters.

The RMT ballot, which closes on December 22, follows Serco Docklands' unilateral decision to replace 12-hour weekend shifts with eight-hour duties, which will deprive around 30 staff of 24 rest days a year.
