Docklands Light Railway control staff ballot over imposed rosters

MEMBERS OF Britain's biggest rail union working in the control room of Docklands Light Railway are being balloted for industrial action over the imposition of new rosters.

The RMT ballot, which closes on December 22, follows Serco Docklands' unilateral decision to replace 12-hour weekend shifts with eight-hour duties, which will deprive around 30 staff of 24 rest days a year.

Victory at Waterloo

Signallers on the Waterloo and City are celebrating a victory today, LU refused to recognise the unique controller duties they performed and classified them as the lowest grade signal operator.

After months of unrest LUL have caved in and agreed to regrade the staff at Waterloo to Service Controller Waterloo and City, increase their pay to 40k (The 40k figure is based on the fact the control room staff will not work night duties or Sundays) and back date the pay claim to the 1st April 2008.

RMT urges LUL to withdraw ‘dangerous’ doors instruction

LONDON UNDERGROUND’S biggest union has urged the company to withdraw an “astonishing and potentially highly dangerous” instruction which will require drivers to ask passengers to push carriage doors closed in tunnels.

RMT is seeking urgent discussions with LUL over an ‘Operation Standards Notice’ which will also require drivers to move trains through tunnels even if they are not certain that carriage doors are closed.

Train Operator’s pay stopped after eye operation!

Merry Christmas from Morden Management

A Morden train operator has had his pay stopped because he has had an eye operation for a detached retina. If this condition had not been treated he would have lost the eyesight in his right eye.

Management tried to force Bob to come back to work on alternative duties. Bob declined this offer, the operation was successful and he was recovering at the expected timescale.
