Every Job Matters - Defending London Underground Jobs

We Must Prepare To Defend Against Cuts

RMT is committed to fight against the 12% cuts demanded by Boris and enthusiastically carried out by LU management.

The most immediate target for LU, as they seek to wield the axe, will be ticket offices and station supervisors. Most members will, by now, have seen reports in the Standard as well as in London Calling of management’s plan to close all ticket offices and slash the number of supervisors by making each one cover up to five stations.

But the cuts demanded by Boris and LU will go much further than this.

EJM = every job matters

The recent leaked briefing document that showed ALL ticket offices would be closed in LUL plans show what a sham the EJM engagement event was.
The management were adamant that the staff would dictate the improvements to how we do our jobs
How many of those attending EJM suggested shutting ticket offices?
Or introducing mobile supervisors?
None that I spoke to. None, in the breakdown of what was discussed at the EJM
We must now start the campaign to fight back against these attacks on our jobs and our future terms and conditions

It is an indication of the way things are that the most important issue in this SFC News is about something management will not discuss at Functional Council.
Once again we have asked LU to come clean and tell members what their plans are for our stations. Vauxhall has now been added to the list of stations that will be refurbished and re-opened without a ticket office. Management refuse to say which other stations, or even how many will lose their ticket offices.
