  • Recruitment & Organising should be first item on the agenda of a branch meeting for discussion.
  • Elect a Membership Secretary of which Recruitment & Organising will be part of their responsibilities.
  • It will be the local Industrial Rep & Membership Secretary’s responsibility to liaise with each other and do a bi-monthly audit of their local membership.
  • It will be the local Industrial Rep’s responsibility to update notice boards of branch recruitment activity and continually monitor and recruit any staff new to their workplace and update any changes to
    member’s details to the Membership Secretary.
  • We will hold one major Recruitment & Organising day per year to visit all areas of our branch along with Regional Council mobilising activists from around the region to participate.
  • We will hold three local Recruitment & Organising days per year to cover all areas of our branch, which will take place on the same day as a branch meeting.
  • On local Recruitment & Organising days, we will mobilise as many branch members as possible but we expect the attendance of all the local Industrial Reps of the areas being covered along with the
    Branch Secretary, the Membership Secretary and at least one full time Functional Rep.
  • The Branch will support the Membership Secretary to implement the branch Recruitment Plan with resources such as recruitment material, union training courses & funding unpaid Special Leave.
