General Grades Committee To Discuss Further Industrial Action At Tube Lines

PENSION AND PASSES – TUBE LINES

The strike action taken since Tuesday in this dispute has been rock solid and members are to be congratulated for your solid support and determination in our ongoing campaign for pension and passes justice.

Whilst not a direct result of the action, the shutdown of the Bakerloo line due to the partial ceiling collapse has highlighted the need for fully trained experienced professionals working as part of the Emergency Response Unit. We firmly believe that in dealing with this extremely serious incident on the Bakerloo Line, ERU coverage of the rest of the network was at best seriously understaffed and at worst non-existent. Throughout we have firmly believed that the hotchpotch efforts by LUL to run an ERU during the strike were seriously deficient and this was borne out by the response times we have been seeing to other incidents throughout the network.

Additionally I would also like to take this opportunity to commend our London Underground members for exercising their rights under safety related legislation in the course of our Tube Lines members’ action.

I can advise you that the General Grades Committee are due to meet next week to decide on further action in this dispute. I shall be sure to inform members of any developments in this regard and wish once again to thank everyone for your rock solid support.
