Ballot readied in Hammersmith control room working conditions dispute

16th of July, 2020

WORKING CONDITIONS, HAMMERSMITH SERVICE CONTROL CENTRE - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/2)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/515/19, 18th December 2019), the issues affecting members at the Hammersmith Service Control Centre remain unresolved and include; a lack of toilets, no full-size control room kitchen or mess facilities, not enough lockers and a poorly located locker room, inadequate seating and chairs, sub-standard control room lighting, poor cleaning, poor building access routes, poor building management, no on-site parking and members left at risk of and experiencing assaults when walking to the control room.

The failure of London Underground to rectify these sub-standard or non-existent facilities has led to members' now wishing to take action and following a report received from the Lead Officer, the National Executive Committee has taken the decision to ensure the ballot matrix is ready and inform the Company that a dispute situation now exists over these matters.

I have written to London Underground and I would be grateful for all Branches to ensure members' details are correct and up to date. I will keep you advised of all further developments.
