On Eve Of Tube Lines strike RMT warns of secret plan to reprivatise tube maintenance and unleash nightmare repeat of Public Private Partnership

With Tube Lines staff, including the Emergency Response Unit, geared up to strike for 72 hours from 4pm today in a dispute over pensions and benefits equality with other underground staff, tube union RMT warned that the failure of tube bosses to agree a simple harmonisation of the most basic employment conditions could be linked to a secret plan to reprivatise the maintenance work unleashing the nightmare of PPP2.

London Underground has finally supplied RMT with projected figures for Hammersmith SCC. These figures confirm a 50% cut for all Service Operators and Service Controllers Level 1 & 2, which will now all be rebranded to Area Controllers and Regional Controllers. All staff will have to apply for positions in the new control room, that includes management!

ASLEF, TSSA And RMT Agree To Seek Joint Approach To Protect LU Staff Levels

We welcome the correspondence from ASLEF and TSSA agreeing to seek a joint approach to protecting London Underground staffing levels for the duration of the current pay settlement. We instruct the General Secretary to arrange an early meeting with ASLEF and TSSA on this matter, and to press Unite for a response. This issue to be placed back in front of us with a report of this meeting, and in the event of any other development.

London Underground Changes To Station Supervisors Control Over Station Access

We note the request from our Regional Organiser and accordingly instruct the General Secretary to advise London Underground that we are in dispute with the company on this matter and are available for talks to seek a resolution.
