Pic Line drivers balloted over training concerns

REDUCED DRIVER TRAINING - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/11/1)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/048/22), dated 11th February 2022, the Piccadilly and District West RMT Branch submitted a resolution regarding the unacceptable imposition of poor-quality training on the Piccadilly Line.

This matter has been considered by the National Executive Committee which took the decision to enter a dispute with London Underground and to ballot all Piccadilly Line Train Operators for industrial action to demand that training standards are maintained.

TUC Disabled Workers statement on Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill and Elections Bill

TUC Disabled Workers’ Committee strongly opposes the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill.

The Bill includes new duties which oblige public services to share service users’ information with the police, which is an unacceptable shift away from a public health approach to an authoritarian approach, which will erode trust between public services and disabled people.

Join the demo: Cost of living crisis and justice for P&O workers

Dear colleague

Cost of living crisis and justice for P&O workers - demonstrations on 2nd April 2022

As inflation continues to rise, energy prices soar and wages are held down the cost of living crisis escalates. Big companies are continuing to rake in profits while piling misery onto working people as consumers and workers. The disgraceful illegal sacking of our members at P&O Ferries by the multinational logistics firm DP World is part of that attack.

TUC Disabled Workers Condemn P&O Sackings

The TUC's Disabled Members' Committee has made this statement:

Accessible public transport is essential for disabled people to participate in society on an equal and independent basis. To be genuinely accessible, public transport must be adequately staffed by workers with decent standards of training, pay, conditions and security of employment.

P&O protest at parent company HO

RMT will protest outside the London headquarters of P&O’s parent company DP World tomorrow, 18 March, at 16:00.

The protest follows P&O’s summary dismissal of 800 workers and forms part of a national day of action that will also see protests in Hull, Dover, and Liverpool.

DP World is a multibillion pound multinational which has seen huge increases in its revenue. It made $1.3 billion profit in 2021, up 19% on the previous year.

Join us at 16 Palace Street, SW1E 5JQ to demand reinstatement for the P&O workers.

Solidarity with P&O workers

Urgent demonstrations on 18th March against - mass sackings on P&O

The UK has today seen one of the most vicious examples of despotic employer behaviour and one of the most shameful episodes in its recent industrial history.

800 workers were sacked immediately, with no notice so they can be replaced by cheaper labour.

There are reports of the use of security guards boarding ships with handcuffs to remove crew so they can be replaced.

Solidarity with Pete Randle

RMT members working in the London Transport Region are appalled to learn of the suspension by Coventry City Council of Unite trade union rep Pete Randle. This is the latest attempt at union busting by a council happy to blow nearly £3m on scabs and strike breaking rather than settle a pay claim that would cost around a tenth of that sum; £300,000.

Pete is one of 75 Unite refuse workers on all out strike since Jan 31st.
