Durham miners gala 2023

DURHAM MINERS GALA 2023 - SATURDAY 8TH JULY

The Durham Miners' Gala returned in 2022 after a three-year absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It was the biggest Gala in decades as more than 200,000 people packed the streets of Durham and the Racecourse ground to enjoy the sights and sounds of The Big Meeting. Hosted by the Durham Miners Association (DMA) since 1871, the Gala is the world's greatest celebration of community, international solidarity, and working-class culture. It is a unique and inspiring spectacle.

The 137th Durham Miners Gala will take place on Saturday 8 July 2023.

The RMT Band will be marching at the event and RMT branches, activists, members, family, and friends who wish to march with the Band are asked to congregate from 9.45 a.m. onwards at White Church café (formerly the New Inn pub), Church St Head, Durham, DH1 3DN and line up behind the band as marching will commence at 10.30 a.m. prompt.  Please bring branch banners.

The RMT stall will again be at the event this year and is located in the Red Zone (number 2) on the Racecourse main field within the “trade union village”.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Lynch
General Secretary
