Sept 29th 2010 - Duty Managers Strike!

It gives me great pleasure to report that many Duty Managers took strike action over the job cuts being enforced by LUL. ome of the most successful locations were managers decided enough is enough, were: Shepherds Bush most DSMs took strike action, Hammersmith D&P not one DSM booked on for duty on the Tuesday of the strike, Wembley Park no rostered DMTs booked on and many other locations saw Duty Managers take action and standing up for their jobs, along with the other grades. It was also excellent to see our colleagues in TSSA take action with us. United, we stand a chance of defeating these and future cuts. Devided the company win and your families lose out. It’s as simple as that. So please keep it up and improve on the last strike with even more Duty Managers joining our fight.

Do not to book on for any shifts commencing between 18.29 hours on Sunday 3rd October until 18.28 hours on Monday 4th October

IT’s TIME TO FIGHT FOR YOUR JOB SECURITY

Dear colleagues.

The time has come again for us to take action to attempt to protect jobs on lu not only for us but the next generation of workers. Some of which may be our children.

I understand that as managers it may put you in a compromising position to take strike action. However I think it is important that you have some food for thought.

It is clear now that lul are not going to stop with their job cuts. I understand that you now have secured a position as a duty manager but for how long? Are you prepared to live day by day not knowing when the axe will fall on you? It is clear that lul have no loyalty to there operational managers. The stress and anxiety they put many of our friends and colleagues through with this first set of cuts was harsh. And you can be sure that as the cuts go on the pressure on you all will increase. If this is true then it is fair to say you all have a very unsafe and pressurised future to look forward to. Is this not right?

It is funny how lul over the last few months have shown that they are cutting your grades and degrading DMTs however when it comes to strike days they are calling you expecting you to assist them on trying to bring down the trade unions fight to save your jobs. Doesn't something smell wrong to you?

I do understand that you are managers and may feel that you have to do what is expected of you by the company but the truth is you are workers, like the rest of us trying to put food on the table for our children. We are all aware of what the company has planned for us for the near future. The question is, are you going to help them achieve that?

Of course the choice is yours but please remember that you also can take industrial action and as you can see from the News Letter many have taken industrial action in defence of our jobs. You can not be punished for taking strike action. And as for it being a hindrance on any promotion for you in the future well if the company get their way that will be taken care of for you. Look at the DMT / DTSM the only way is down!

Please join the many Duty Managers who have already taken strike action defending your jobs and futures. Wake up and take part in the action on the 3rd & 4th October.

No excuses it's time to stand.

Don’t be short sighted. Don’t be walked all over. Say NO to job cuts!

Remember don’t be used, stand up for yourself and STRIKE in solidarity with the rest of the operational grades and the Admin Staff
