RMT offers solidarity in stand against far right violence
Mick Lynch Talks At Demo

Dear Colleague,

UPDATE: FAR-RIGHT VIOLENCE

Further to my earlier circular today (NP/196/24) we have become aware that there could be further demonstrations planned by far-right groups aimed at mosques and refugee centres in the coming week.

We are therefore asking members where possible to be in contact with their local mosques, refugee centres and solidarity groups to offer our union's solidarity and support on the ground at a time when they face severe threats and intimidation.

I must stress that it is important that our response is led by the communities and guided by the approach and wishes of those that we are supporting.

We continue to liaise closely with the TUC for a movement-wide response so that we do not allow such vile shows of racism to divide working class unity.

Please also note that under Rule, the union will also take the strongest action against any of our members found to be supporting racist acts in the workplace or in our communities.

As trade unionists we are central to our society upholding values of peace, solidarity and working class unity and in the days ahead we must do all within our power to oppose hate and division in our communities and workplaces.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Lynch
General Secretary
