RMT to Ballot CBS Outdoor Members - Defend Brendan Judge

RMT Head Office Circular No. IR/18/09 - 29th January 2009 DISMISSAL OF BRENDAN JUDGE – CBS OUTDOOR NOTICE OF BALLOT FOR INDUSTRIAL ACTION

As RMT members you would have more likely heard of the disgraceful decision by CBS Outdoor to sack Union Representative, Brendan Judge, just before Christmas. CBS Outdoor members are understandably very angry about what has happened and have demanded action to get Brendan reinstated.

It is our firm belief that Brendan has done nothing wrong other than work to normal practices that all other members work to.

RMT has therefore given CBS Outdoor both time and opportunity to see sense, reverse their decision and reinstate Brendan back to his job. They have failed to take these opportunities given.

The General Grades Committee has therefore taken the decision to proceed with a ballot for both strike action and action short of a strike. Ballot papers will be sent first class to CBS Outdoor union members on Monday 2nd February which must be returned by no later than first post on Tuesday 10th February 2009.

This is quite a quick balloting period so I am urging CBS members please vote YES to both questions on you ballot paper and return it in the envelope provided as soon as it is received should be grateful if branches and activists would assist in this regard.

Only our CBS RMT members can save Brendan now so please do the right thing when you ballot paper arrives.

Yours sincerely

Bob Crow GENERAL SECRETARY
