DLR cleaners strike suspended following positive response from bosses

CHANGES TO CLEANING OPERATIONS – INTERSERVE FACILITIES (KEOLIS AMEY DOCKLANDS CONTRACT) (DLR/15/4)

Following my letter to you dated 19th April, advising of the strike action due to start from tomorrow, Tuesday 26thApril, some discussions have taken place with the Company. Your RMT Reps reiterated that in order to consider suspending the strike action, Interserve would have to meet with us to negotiate a roster that is acceptable to all and give a commitment to work with the RMT in the future to find solutions to any other issues which may arise.

The Company responded to this in a positive light and has proposed the following:-

  • To pay members 8 hours per shift for each shift worked to ensure that your pay is transparent and that you are paid for all the hours you work
  • To review the new rota and give favourable consideration to a different shift pattern for any member who is having real difficulties with the 4 on 2 off system.
  • To review the process around payroll to make sure that everyone is paid in full on the next pay day.

Your National Executive Committee has considered this matter and has taken the decision to SUSPEND THE STRIKE ACTION from Tuesday 26th until Thursday 28th April 2016 to allow time for your Reps to consult with members and fully explore the Company’s offer.

I will of course keep you advised of all further developments.
