TUC Demonstration Saturday 20 October: March For A Future That Works

There is now one month to go until the demonstrations in London, Glasgow and Belfast opposing the cuts in the name of austerity being proposed by the coalition government.

It is important that we get a good turnout of RMT members on the day, to send a message to the government that working people should not pay for the bankers’ crisis.

London Underground's Attempt To Change 'Attendance At Work' Procedure Without Consultation Unacceptable to RMT

I write to advise branches that I have received reports from our representatives that there have been instances where case conferences have been chaired outside the current agreed attendance procedure. This matter has now been considered by the General Grades Committee and has taken the following decision:-

RMT Seeks Comments On LUL's 'Guidance For The Use Of Social Media'

Management have written to inform us of a new policy which gives guidance to staff over the use of social media. I write to advise branches that this matter has now been considered by the General Grades Committee and has made the following decision:-

“We note the correspondence from London Underground. We remain concerned about the potential use of these guidelines to unfairly discipline our members.

APD Stations Group Power and Electrical Department To Take Industrial Action

It has been brought to our attention that London Underground are in breach of the spirit of our Olympic Agreement in terms of the rostering arrangements within the APD Stations Group Power and Electrical Department.

Having consulted with the local branch and representatives, the General Grades Committee has decided to call our members who work as Electricians, Senior Technicians, Team Leaders and Work Controllers within the APD Stations Group Power and Electrical Department to take the following industrial action short of a strike.

Not to work any overtime from 06.00 hours on Friday 7th September 2012 until 23.59 hours on Sunday 9th September 2012

Casualisation Dispute Industrial Action

Further to my previous correspondence with regards our Casualisation dispute, your General Grades Committee has reviewed the situation and decided to amend the industrial action. The below action is now CANCELLED:-

Train Operators will not stop at stations which do not have the minimum number of station staff on duty.

Keep Stations And The Underground Safe During The Olympics

Following consultation with our lead officer and representatives, we instruct all London Underground members to take action short of strike action starting at 00:01 on Friday 27 July and continuing until further notice, as follows:

  • All members to not co-operate in any way with the counting of Incident Customer Service Assistants (ICSAs) towards the minimum number of staff on duty for a station to be open to passengers.
  • Members acting as ICSAs to withdraw from the station and refuse to be counted

I write further to my letter dated 19th July 2012 in which I informed you of the result of the ballot regarding the above matter.

You and your colleagues are all congratulated for returning a very strong YES vote for industrial action and proving your determination to fight for better pay and conditions. Management must also be clear on the fact that they cannot just ignore the impact the Olympics games will have on your working life.
