BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS – POWER CONTROL OPERATORS – LONDON UNDERGROUND
I write to advise you that following further negotiations with the company at ACAS, your Executive Committee has decided to suspend all industrial action that was due to commence tomorrow 24th May 2014. Therefore all members are instructed to work normally .
Further to my recent circulars our TfL members, in coordination with our TSSA and Unite colleagues will be taking 24 hours of strike action from this Friday morning in a dispute over the all-out attack on pay and pensions.
Members have been instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:-
A resolution was received from our LU Fleet Branch to advise how their members are appalled at the treatment of Brother Ainsley McKoy by COO Operations management. This follows a COO Manager instigating disciplinary action against a Fleet member outside their sphere of influence, without any involvement by COO Fleet Management in the process. We believe this has serious implications across the whole of fleet and our Call Point Train Maintainers where any manager can discipline one of our members and bypass the whole COO Fleet process. This sets a very dangerous precedent.
A ballot for strike action and industrial action short of a strike was held of our Tube Lines members at Northfield Depot over a Breakdown in industrial relations. This dispute related to reports we had received that management had been riding roughshod over agreements relating to the Sickness and Attendance Procedures. They had also withheld sickpay, denied the right to raise a grievance as well as the right to trade union representation.

I wrote to you on Friday advising you that your negotiators believed that some progress had been made, but the company at the last minute decided to impose pre-conditions, including RMT calling off strike action and totally withdrawing from the current dispute, this would have meant a new ballot being required for any further industrial action.

USE OF FINGER PRINTING TO BOOK ON – ISS (LUL CONTRACT)
I write to remind you that we remain in dispute with ISS over the planned introduction of Biometric Fingerprinting Machines for booking on for duty. We are totally opposed to this technology which we believe is a breach of civil liberties and a threat to your jobs. Members on the LUL contract voted ‘Yes’ in a ballot for industrial action and were instructed by the union not to use the new technology until further notice and to use the established booking on method. This action is still in place.

ACTING GENERAL SECRETARY
Consequent upon the sad and untimely death of General Secretary, Bob Crow, it was necessary for the Council of Executives to appoint an Acting General Secretary.
Following a meeting of the Full Council of Executives on 27th March 2014, the following decision was reached:
“That arising from the unfortunate death of Bro. R. Crow our General Secretary, this Council of Executives appoints Bro. M. Cash as Acting General Secretary until the appointment of a new General Secretary.

DISMISSAL, PETRIT MIHAJ – SODEXO (LUL/4/4)
I write to advise branches that our representative Brother Petrit Mihaj has been dismissed by the Sodexo. The General Grades Committee believes this sacking by Sodexo is due to victimisation for his trade union activities. I have advised the company that we are in dispute over this issue, and that we intend to ballot members concerned for industrial action in order to achieve justice for Brother Mihaj.
