RMT in dispute as Tube bosses announce train driver job cuts at Queen's Park depot

JOB CUTS, TRAIN OPERATORS, QUEENS PARK DEPOT - LONDON UNDERGROUND - (LUL/14/5)

The following resolution was recently received from the Bakerloo Line Branch:-

“This branch notes LU's declared intention to cut Train Operators jobs at Queen's Park Depot. These cuts involve a reduction of 11 rostered positions (101 to 90) and one pool position (six to five), amounting to a total of cut of more than 10% of the existing workforce.

TFL PENSION FUND - INDEPENDENT REVIEW

You will be aware that the RMT sent an email to our LUL members on 4th January 2021 outlining our disgust and opposition to the findings of the Independent Panel Review in respect of the TfL Pension Fund. As you will recall the Independent Panel Review makes the assumption that the TfL Pension Fund is expensive, outdated and must be reformed, a suggestion that this union totally rejects.

SMA3 update

Further to my previous Circular (IR/007/1/21, 8th January 2021), the following resolution was received from Piccadilly & District West Branch:-

“This Branch notes that despite the RMT concerns over safety and preparedness, LU management decided to plough ahead with the operational proving weekend on the 9th and 10th January.

RMT in dispute with tube bosses over 'Tube Lines' machinery of negotiations changes

MATS FUNCTIONAL COUNCIL REPRESENTATION, TUBELINES GRADES - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/20/2)

The Lead Officer recently submitted a report regarding LUL's intention to remove members from the TubeLines Machinery and place them into the MATS Council for the purpose of collective bargaining. This move follows the reorganisation of grades covered by both the LUL Machinery of Negotiation and also the TubeLines Machinery of Negotiation, but has not been agreed by RMT.

RMT to ballot service control members at Hammersmith Control Centre

IMPOSITION OF ROSTER, SCL2s, HAMMERSMITH SERVICE CONTROL CENTRE - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/8/2)

The Lead Officer recently submitted a report as, despite the best efforts of our RMT Reps to reach a negotiated settlement, management have proceeded to impose a new roster, which is due to be implemented in March 2021, affecting members on the Metropolitan, Circle, Hammersmith & City Lines at Hammersmith Service Control Centre.

RMT will not accept that safe working arrangements cannot be implemented because of any financial agreements between TfL and the government

LONDON UNDERGROUND COVID 19 CHARTER

A report on working conditions on LUL has been considered by the National Executive Committee (NEC). The Lead Officer reports that new variant Covid is showing a massive increased rate of contagion which is having an immediate and direct impact on our members in LUL/TFL. We have been made aware that three members of LUL staff have recently died as consequence of Covid. There are many more staff isolating and reporting sick. We believe there will more deaths and some will be RMT members.

RMT has advised TfL/LUL at the highest level that any attempt to attack members' jobs or conditions will be met with industrial action
