Bakerloo News July - August Edition

Bakerloo News is the newsletter for members of the RMT Bakerloo branch. In this edition:

Strike again on 5-6 August!
Our strike on 8-9 July shut down the entire Tube network, but management isn’t budging. That’s why RMT, Aslef, TSSA, and Unite have called another strike for 5-6 August. RMT Bakerloo mounted three successful, well-supported picket lines on 8-9 July, at Queen’s Park, Oxford Circus, and Elephant and Castle, along with comrades from Aslef and TSSA.

Overtime Ban

SUPPORT THE OVERTIME BAN

The RMT has instructed all of it’s members not to do overtime during this dispute.

The ballot for action short of a strike, which is exactly what this is, came back unanimous. If LU don’t have enough members of staff to open a station safely, then the station must close. Perhaps they should employ enough staff so this doesn’t happen!

One day after our recent strike action, two stations couldn’t open up in the morning because of staff shortage!

Piccadilly Reps Report July 2015

Well I am pleased to say that my area is fantastically strong. We REPs have recruited every single new person to the Piccadilly Circus group. Fixed term as well. 12 members in the last month.

Amazing, it's really easy for you to use your iPad to recruit. Giving someone a paper membership application is so last year. I do it on my personal iPad. Takes 5 minutes.

Welcome to the Bakerloo Branch website

The Bakerloo Branch of the RMT represents and organises members of all operational grades on the Bakerloo Line. This includes station staff, train drivers and service controllers. We also have members from the old British Rail Hotels.

The Bakerloo Branch is responsible for the effective union organisation on the Bakerloo Line. The Branch is the first port of call for members who need assistance.

We meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 16:00 hours, upstairs at the Coach and Horses, 1 Great Marlborough Street, London W1F 7HG, near Oxford Circus tube.

If you have any any problems or want to know more about the Branch please email the Branch Secretary, Jim McDaid at bakerlooline@rmt.org.uk.

Special Bakerloo Branch Meeting 17/6/15

At the Royal Exchange, 26 Sale Place, Lancaster Gate, London, W2 1PU

An extra meeting to discuss organising to maximise turn out on the up coming ballot. It's important we get as large a YES vote returned as possible to send a clear message to LU.

With LU digging their heels in during negotiations on pay and night tube, not meaningfully responding our claims and pressing recklessly ahead with massive job cuts on our stations, it may be necessary for all underground workers to take industrial action.
