RMT Steps Up Campaign Against Agency Attacks On Rail Jobs And Conditions

Rail union RMT said today that it is stepping up the campaign against attempts by agencies, notably Trainpeople, to force their way into the rail industry with the express intent of profiteering at the expense of jobs, security and decent pay and conditions.

RMT branches in Wales have alerted the union to the fact that there is a new drive by Trainpeople to try and get a foot in the door through an aggressive marketing approach to railway employers. The union has pledged again to fight off any attempts by Trainpeople, or similar agencies, to downgrade and casualise rail jobs.

RMT Awaits Meaningful Talks To Avert Vic Line Strike

We note that London Underground Ltd has signed an agreement to extend the validity of our ballot mandate. We therefore suspend the strike action due to start at 2100 today (24 September 2013) and conclude at 0300 tomorrow (25 September 2013).

We affirm that our strike action due to commence on 8 October 2013 is not suspended, and remains in place. We instruct the General Secretary to provide all necessary support and advice to members taking part in this industrial action.

City Link Workers To Strike For A Week Over Pay Cuts Of Up To £4000

Transport union RMT announced today that hundreds of staff working for City Link will be taking seven days of strike action in a dispute over pay, working conditions and an attempt by the company management to bulldoze through changes to contracts.

The workforce will strike for seven days from 00.01 hours on Tuesday 24th September to 12.59 hours on Monday 30th September 2013.

Central Line Tube Dispute Update

We note the correspondence from London Underground Ltd responding to the seriousissues raised by our representatives in this dispute. We instruct the lead officer to obtain the views on our Central line drivers’ representatives on this response, and instruct the General Secretary to place a report of these views in front of us.

RMT Takes Fighting Motions On Strike Action And The EU To TUC Congress

RMT takes motions on EU referendum and co-ordinated strike action to TUC Congress and plans direct challenge to Ed Miliband over betrayal of working people

Transport union RMT will be taking hard-hitting motions calling for a referendum on Britain’s membership of the EU (Motion 16) and co-ordination of strike action and campaigning against austerity (Motion 54) to the Trades Union Congress which assembles in Bournemouth this weekend.

Driverless Trains
We are dismayed to learn that on July 4th London Mayor Boris Johnson again called for driverless trains to be introduced on the Underground. He informed the media that LUL will never again order trains with driver’s cabs.

Victoria Line Dispute

That we note the correspondence on file from the ASLE&F reporting that they will not be balloting their members for Industrial Action on the Victoria Line, however this Union remains in dispute on this matter.
