Pro Forma For Drivers Expressing Wish To Work Within Frameworks During Olympic Period

Pro forma is attached below

By now most of you will have received a copy of an expression of interest form circulated by LUL asking Drivers to give their preferences for working additional shifts over the Olympic period, in breach of our framework agreements. This form claims its distribution has been agreed with the Trade Unions whereas only ASLEF has agreed. RMT continues to be in discussions with LUL over our claims for Olympic recognition and reward.

All RMT members please be aware that an ‘expression of interest’ document is circulating in depots asking all drivers to state what shifts and or breaches of framework agreements you are prepared to work during the Olympics and Paralympics.

PLEASE NOTE THE RMT HAS NOT SIGNED UP TO OR AGREED THAT THIS DOCUMENT SHOULD BE CIRCULATED!

THERE IS STILL NO AGREEMENT WITH THE RMT DURING THE
OLYMPIC PERIOD!

Exceptionally Busy

This summer will see Tube staff of all grades working really hard to transport Londoners and visitors during the Olympic period. With the main venue being in Stratford, the Olympic Games Live Sites in Victoria Park and Hyde Park, and Marathon Swimming and Triathlon event in Hyde Park, the Central Line -our RMT branch’s area -is right at the heart of it.

Driverless Train Movements On Victoria Line & Automatic Door Opening

We note the correspondence from ASLEF. We instruct the General Secretary to reply, advising ASLEF that RMT is campaigning against the introduction of Automatic Door Opening on the Victoria Line and urging ASLEF to join us in this campaign. Any further correspondence from ASLEF, and reports of local contact with ASLEF on this matter, is to be placed in front of us.

RMT Demands Investigation Into Maintenance And Staffing Cuts As Buckled Tunnel Lining Comes Within Inches Of Ripping Tube Train Open

TUBE UNION RMT today demanded an independent investigation into London Underground maintenance and staffing cuts after photographic evidence emerged suggesting that the train that hit the buckled lining on the Bakerloo Line in Thursday mornings rush hour came within inches of being ripped open like a sardine can with potentially lethal consequences.

Bakerloo Line Tunnel Damage

A major incident on the Bakerloo Line last week a shut don for several hours. A defect of the tunnel wall was struck by the first trains of the morning. Once the cause was established a large section of the line was closed.

On the same day Tube Lines were on strike for equal pensions with colleagues at London Underground.

Regional Council Resolution: The Importance Of Agreements

Submitted by Piccadilly and District West branch

We note that once again management have held private talks with another union concerning our train operator members. The RMT opposes their intention to introduce temporary arrangements for the Olympics outside of trains Framework Agreements and the P.T.O.A. particularly the intention to extend the 8 hour day at weekends which sets a dangerous precedent.
