Night Tube News November 2016

Dear fellow Night Tube staff

From next Wednesday, RMT stations and revenue staff will be refusing to work overtime, as part of our campaign to restore cut jobs and improve working conditions for all station staff. That includes us. I am writing to urge you to take part in this action - in order words, NOT to work overtime.

Safe working for Night Tube Train Operators

As you all know Night Tube has been with us since mid August and will be across five lines by mid December.

Following the decision to employ NT Train Operators, the RMT made clear to LUL that we expected the same safety arrangements to be in place during night work as exists during the rest of the working day and that NT Train Operators, whilst working specific shifts, should feel as safe as their full time colleagues.

Significant win for Tube Lines members

The RMT have achieved a significant victory in the Tube Lines Pay, Pensions and Night Tube disputes. A good pay deal has been secured, as well as pension parity for all Tube Lines members.  This long running dispute has been won because of the hard work of RMT activists and representatives.

The letter below from General Secretary Mick Cash outlines the dispute, and the full deal is attached.

Night Tube Drivers to get fair choice on New Years Eve working and equal bonus payment

London Underground has agreed with the RMT about the fairest way to operate services on New Years Eve.

Now all Night Tube drivers will have the opportunity to either work or apply for annual leave on NYE, but if they choose to work they will be paid the same enhancements as full time drivers who volunteer. This has been a prolonged process – taking many months to achieve – but at last we have a position which is both fair and consistent with current procedures.

The truth: RMT position on Night Tube drivers New Years' Eve working

NEW YEARS’ EVE WORKING 2016 - An update

Dear Colleagues It has been brought to my attention that Aslef has been making wildly inaccurate claims about this Union’s position on NYE payments for drivers. It saddens me to have to refute statements from another union, because I believe we should always strive to work together, but I cannot allow falsehoods to go unchallenged.

RMT on the launch of Night Tube

"it is not politicians and their top officials who will deliver a Night Tube for London it is the cleaners, station staff, drivers, engineers and all the other grades working anti-social hours"

RMT sets out its position on the roll out of the first phase of the Night Tube this weekend.

Victoria Line Night Tube Ballot Called Off

NIGHT RUNNING – LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/15/4)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/200/16, 19th July 2016), I informed the Company of the dispute situation between us over the proposed rosters for Victoria Line Train Operator and Instructor Operator members. Since then, further meetings have taken place with the Company and RMT Reps. LUL has offered an additional review of the new rosters after eight weeks although Reps can also continue to raise any immediate concerns in the usual way.

Trains Functional update on Night Tube, 4 day week and recruitment freeze

Today (Tuesday 24th May) we had the latest in a series of meetings regarding Night Tube (NT) and the proposed trial 4 day, 36 hour week (4DW).

(Background - As part of our dispute resolution LUL agreed to look at trialling a 4DW on the Jubilee line. This was to be negotiated at a Company Council Trains Sub-Group (CCTSG) at the same time as we negotiated the introduction of NT and the long term reduction of weekend working, and the option for current drivers (TO21s) to work reduced hours.)
