Dear Colleague,
Some of you may have seen the editorial comment in the later editions of the Evening Standard on Thursday 21st May attacking RMT members over the industrial action on the Victoria Line that day.
RMT have asked the Evening Standard for the right to reply. As yet, we have had no response. A copy of my letter to the Standard is attached and reprinted below. Please ensure that it is widely distributed.

Train operators are in for a real treat in the next 2 weeks as centurion managers are released from “normal” duties (whatever they may be) to spend time in train crew mess rooms chatting to you about the strike ballot.

It has come to my notice that LUL management are handing out anti-strike propaganda and asking people to sign for it. This is nothing more than a crude attempt to intimidate people during the current ballot and is both counterproductive and completely unnecessary.
RMT members have already voted for action by a five-to-one majority, but LUL used legal technicalities that would have made no difference to the outcome to stop your union using that democratic mandate.

RMT said this morning that train operators working out of the Seven Sisters depot, covering the Victoria Line, are rock solid in their support for a 24 hour strike which started at 9pm last night.
RMT paid tribute to its members who have been prepared to give up a second days pay in a fight to get correct door side operating equipment installed on the Victoria Line, a failsafe safety system that operates on every other line on the Underground, and in a stand against bullying and victimisation of RMT members and activists.
Conference was held in Cardiff this year, particular thanks go to Cardiff Rail Branch for their superb welcome and hospitality. Thanks also for the well organised pre-conference social, well attended by both delegates and branch members alike.
RMT's London Transport region is affiliated to the United Campaign Against Police Violence, set up in the wake of this year's G20 protests.
