Reinstate Joel Miah!

The following letter was sent to RMT General Secretary:

To: General Secretary Dear Bob,

Following the result of CDI, a meeting of the Bakerloo Branch was held and agreed the following resolution:

“This Branch notes the summary dismissal of Bro Joel Miah, a train driver member at Queens Park and is appalled at another gross unfair treatment of a long standing and respected member of staff with an exemplary record. This Branch believes that London Underground has an agenda of reducing staffing levels and no one gets a fair hearing at Company Disciplinary hearings.

Leafleting against the BNP and "Nazi Nick"

Anti-fascismFrom local anti-fascist group, Redbridge and Epping Forest Together ...

Our next outing is this Thursday 17 December from 5-7pm. This time we will give out leaflets about Nick Griffin’s absurd role as a climate change denier at the Copenhagen summit (“He does not speak for us”) and reporting “BNP man guilty of terrorism”: the case of BNP member Terence Gavan who “made and stockpiled 54 nail and ball-bearing bombs”, “manufactured shotguns, pen guns and pistols at his home” and was “found in possession of ammunition, a manual on booby-traps” and “an improvised munitions handbook”.

TfL Joint Unions Pay Bulletin

bulletinThis bulletin has been issued jointly by RMT and the other five recognised unions in TfL. Click '1 attachment / file name to download it. Read the text below.

Get The Facts Right!

Warning! Don’t believe everything you hear from TfL. Managers have been telling staff that they will not receive the 75% Reimbursement after April 1st 2010 if they don’t sign the pay award acceptance form. This is untrue. Reimbursement will continue for the full length of your current season ticket, even if it expires after April 1st 2010. Maybe this was meant as an early April Fool, but it’s more likely yet another mistake from management that don’t seem to have a clue what they’re doing.

How Job Cuts Plan Affects Us

London Underground's plans for slashing station staffing - leaked last week by RMT - will directly affect Stratford no.1 branch station staff in two major ways. Firstly, virtually all our ticket offices will close, with shedloads of jobs lost. Secondly, Barkingside group will be disbanded and its stations reallocated to Leyton and Buckhurst Hill groups.

PPP Meltdown On The Underground As Tube Lines Contract Descends Into Chaos

TUBE UNION RMT today called for PPP contractor Tube Lines to be stripped of their contract with immediate effect and without compensation, and their work brought back under direct public control, as it emerged that their operations on the Piccadilly, Northern and Jubilee Lines have collapsed into chaos and recrimination.

RMT have no doubt that the poisoned relationship between TfL and Tube Lines has now broken down irretrievably with a sequence of events in the run up to Thursdays decision by the arbiter on the value of the next phase of their contract fuelling the case for the company to be dumped.
