Who is the course for?

United We Stand! Women And The British Trade Union Movement

This course looks at the history of women in Britain organising in workplaces and communities for a
better life. Starting with the early beginnings of women’s self - organisation and continuing to the 21st century, we will consider major themes and whether women’s role in the labour movement has been ‘hidden from history’.

WEA Course: The History Of Black People

The Workers Education Authority is running a course "An Introduction To The History Of Black People In Britain." Black and Asian people have been an active part of British society for centuries. This course gives a broad overview of the experience of immigrants and their interaction with settled populations, particularly in relation to slavery and the labour movement.

The course takes place over three consecutive Saturdays from March the 2nd of March between 10am and 2pm.

The course is held at the WEA Learning Centre, 96 - 100 Clifton Street, London EC2A 4TP.

RMT Learning Project Roundup

RMT Learning have published a 'project roundup' for 2010 to 2012. The report covers successes of the last 2 years from Learning conferences to book swap libraries. It also details the number of new union learner reps, the number of learners to achieve various qualifications and the ethnic background of both learners and learner reps.

Communications Course

Learn the skills you need to make yourself heard within the RMT. Your voice is important. Use effective communication to make a difference and shape the future of your union.

The week long course will cover the following subjects:

  • How important is communication in the union?
  • What is the union’s message and how is it communicated to the members?
  • How important is my voice in the union and how can I be heard?

RMT Opens Extended Education Centre And Pledges To Train Hundreds Of New Militants Every Year

TRANSPORT UNION RMT today opened an extension to its national education centre in Doncaster with a pledge from General Secretary Bob Crow that the organisation is embarking on a programme designed to educate and tool up hundreds of militant reps every year to take on the industrial and political battles ahead.

Union Learning Reps - National Development Day

On October 17, 2012 RMT Learning organised a National Development Day for Union Learning Representatives in Birmingham. The day marked an opportunity for reps to meet, network and form working relationships and to be briefed on the processes for the recently agreed Education and Learning Conference that will begin in 2013.
