Update from John Leach at ACAS - Friday July 17

Update from Regional Organiser John Leach .

Today myself and senior reps met with the other unions ASLEF TSSA Unite and LUL at ACAS . We were there from 0945 till 1540

Firstly ,and it was important that we did this ....We clarified with LUL that all rosters and changes to agreements are negotiable and can only be changed using the Trade Union /LUL machinery of negotiation. These are the charters of workers rights in LUL and protect us all day in day out ..

We agreed that all station staff rosters created for night tube and FFFS will kept at company council level and not implemented whilst we are in discussion .

We then went into face to face discussion in some detail on our demands for an improved pay and nightube package FOR ALL GRADES .

Its worth stating that Managment had come to this meeting determined to try to seperate and divide the unions and try and get staff to rival staff. We resisted that . RMT seeks to continue at all times to retain the united front of all unions in LUL ...

After 1pm . There was a continued discussion about Every job matters (FFFS) and our already raised major concerns . We discussed some more details around the pay and night tube ..All grades ...with a specific part on Train Operators (Aslef had spoke earlier to LUL)and we raised our postion for train operators in LUL . The meeting ended with us suggesting a meetings schedule for next week .

The meeting was quite highly charged with questions from LUL ( that we've answered many times before ) being asked with a kind of disbelief that we would have concerns about increased anti social shift working or 850ish job cuts . It wasn't very constructive but it was frank I suppose .

No new improved offer was made or even hinted at .

Our determination remains undminished...We will fight for a good deal on pay and night tube . No worsening on shift working .. for more time off the job . We are fighting job cuts and for proper framework agreements under FFFS

Therefore all industrial action remains on as called for and notified to members

We have agreed to return to talks next week.

As soon as I have further news or information I will update you all.

Many thanks
John Leach
