RMT responds to London air pollution crisis
Responding to reports that Londoners are being advised to reduce physical activity on Fridays due to air pollution, RMT General Secretary Mick Lynch said:
“Car use returning to pre pandemic levels and pollution threatening people’s health confirms that decent greener public transport is essential for public safety.
“And it means now more than ever that the government needs to withdraw proposals to inflict cuts on the Capital’s public transport network.”

Rail union, RMT will hold a demonstration on Wednesday against the Home Office’s reckless changes to work visa rules which threaten the jobs and futures of hundreds of rail staff including on London Underground.

RMT today blasted plans by the Elizabeth Line to close every ticket office by August 2027, calling the move “a betrayal of station staff and passengers” with a vow of sustained industrial action to stop it.
