News, reports and information for RMT members who work for London Underground Ltd
In the last two days, two RMT tube drivers have been reinstated. This is the latest of several RMT members to be reinstated following unfair dismissals.
RMT TUBE drivers are to refuse to follow what the union considers to be dangerous new instructions from London Underground after voting by a margin of four to one for industrial action over train safety.
Make no mistake, the Confidential Report exposed by RMT is the result of months, if not years, of management preparations to transform our job, root and branch, and bust the trade unions along with it.
The results will be massive job losses across all grades.
Bob Crow, RMT General Secretary, said “This document tells us everything we need to know about the operational strategy of London Underground - massive increase in fares alongside an unprecedented attack on jobs and safety. “Every single ticket office would be closed, stations left unstaffed and drivers would be thrown out of their cabs without a single thought for passenger safety.
TUBE UNION RMT today released a confidential “Operational Strategy” paper from London Underground which the union says is “a blueprint for jobs and safety carnage.”
TUBE UNION RMT confirmed this morning that tube driver members have voted overwhelmingly by a margin of four to one for action short of a strike in a dispute over safety.
The ballot was over four particular aspects of London Undergrounds Operational Effectiveness Programme which RMT says are unacceptable and potentially dangerous.
From General Secretary Bob Crow
I write to advise you that the ballot for industrial action short of a strike has now closed and the result is as follows: -
Are you prepared to take industrial action short of a strike?
This result is being considered by the General Grades Committee and I shall be in touch with you again shortly.
TUBE UNION RMT today demanded the reversal of the latest cuts plans from London Underground which would change the inspection frequency on key fail-safe safety equipment from daily to every 60 days.
RMT General Grades Committee decision:
We note the correspondence, minutes and documents received regarding our London Underground fleet maintenance members.
We also note that the General Secretary has requested a meeting with London Underground at Company Council level to discuss arrangements for the Olympics for all grades, and that London Underground has not yet responded to this request.
From General Secretary Bob Crow
I write to advise members that we have decided to re-run the current referendum of members on this year’s pay award. This decision has been taken because a letter from management advising us of a slight amendment to the Years 2 to 4 offer was not reflected in the paperwork sent to members with the voting papers. The change is significant enough to warrant the referendum being re-run as members are not voting with the full proposal at their disposal.
Voting papers are being despatched today to your home addresses for the referendum on the company’s pay proposals. This offer has been considered by the General Grades Committee and following a consultation meeting with your representatives, we have decided to hold a referendum with a recommendation to accept the offer.
Use your vote in this referendum which closes on 31st October 2011.
