The RMT has seen a London Underground document which states trains 'with or without drivers' could be introduced on the Piccadilly Line from 2022 - just eight years away. The document, which has been released as an information pack for managers to pass on to workers, also explains that Platform Edge Doors will need to be installed across the line and that preparation work for this could begin from 2016.

Alex McGuigan, a popular and long standing member from Morden depot recently fell foul of a random breathalyser test and was summarily dismissed. There the story might end, but in Alex's case however, there is a lot more to it.

Mick Cash, RMT General Secretary, said "Whilst RMT is not against night running of the tube in principle, provided all staff involved are properly rewarded and that safety and security is thoroughly worked out and agreed, the truth is that the Mayor threw this plan in as a diversion from his massive cuts and closures programme that will axe a thousand staff and decimate services and safety.

‘That we note the local processes have now concluded and we note the position. Should any issues arise from future meetings with the company the General Secretary is instructed to place these matters in front of this GGC’

The GGC has considered a resolution from our Central Line East Branch concerning the use of CCTV footage in a disciplinary case. The Branch highlighted a case where evidence against a member was sourced from CCTV footage but this was not made available to the rep who was representing the member.

I write to advise branches that the General Grades Committee has discussed the latest position in relation to our Every Job matters dispute. Our Regional Organiser reports that management are not conducting meaningful negotiations over this plans and are in fact moving to implement them without agreement. We are acting in conjunction with our sister union TSSA and have outlined our demands which are as follows:

• A clear unconditional commitment that no member of staff will suffer a loss of substantive pay

London Travel Watch is surveying passengers about their use of London Underground ticket offices. The survey also asks what passengers think of London underground's bosses proposals; which include cutting nearly a thousand staff and closing all ticket offices.
