Mass Lobby of Parliament - Wednesday 19th October 2022

This winter, working people will be pushed to breaking point. The cost of everything is going up - from energy and fuel, to food and other household essentials, whilst at the same time wages are being cut. 

This economic crisis is no accident. It is a direct result of successive failures of government, and a government that puts profits before people.

As RMT members at the TOCs and Network Rail prepare to take further strike action on 18th and 20th August and members at London Underground and London Overground on the 19th August, please join General Secretary Mick Lynch and the rest of the Union's leadership at an important online member briefing on Wednesday 17th August at 6pm in support of the Union's campaigns to defend jobs, pay and conditions.

This will be an opportunity to hear the latest updates from the Union's leadership about the disputes and negotiations.

Senior Assistant General Secretary Eddie Dempsey will be speaking at the Morning Star rally SOLIDARITY WITH STRIKERS at the Indian YMCA (41 Fitzroy Square, London W1T 6AQ) on Wednesday 10 August 2022.

Other speakers include Mick Whelan (ASLEF), Daniel Kebede (NEU), Ruth Hayes (Unite), Helen O'Connor (GMB), Sarah-Jane McDonagh (TSSA), John Hendy QC and Ben Chacko (Morning Star editor).

Join our demo: fight the job cuts

On the day that the Elizabeth Line opens to the public, join our demo on the corner of New Oxford St and Charing Cross Road.

On Tuesday, the Elizabeth line finally opens and the world will be told how great transport in London is. But thousands of jobs (600 on tube stations alone) are under threat from Tory cuts to transport funding in London.

A pensions grab is underway and working agreements are being torn up. Fewer staff, knackered staff, poorer service; this is ‘managed decline’ the Mayor speaks of.

The TUC is organising a National Demo on Saturday 18th June in London starting at 12pm with the key message that 'Britain Needs a Pay Rise'. Transport workers are essential workers and as the cost-of-living soars our Union needs to send a clear message to the Government and bosses that our members deserve a decent pay rise.
