Driverless Trains
We are dismayed to learn that on July 4th London Mayor Boris Johnson again called for driverless trains to be introduced on the Underground. He informed the media that LUL will never again order trains with driver’s cabs.

The RMT has hired a coach for both the lobby of the TUC conference, and a lobby of the upcoming Tory conference. These coaches are now available to non members for £10.

The RMT will be joining the 'Hate Homiphobia, Love Russia' demo; in protest of Russia's anti-gay laws, on September 3rd. All RMT members are invited to attend.

Love Russia, Hate Homophobia - G20 Day of Action

Join us Tuesday 3 September, two days before the G20 summit

5-8pm, Downing Street, London SW1

A Day of Action - Love Russia, Hate Homophobia - will be held in London on Tuesday 3 September, just two days before the G20 summit opens in St Petersburg, Russia, hosted by President Putin.

Demonstrate against austerity and to defend the NHS. For a one day general strike to defend our social wage, jobs and public services.

The RMT will be running coaches to :
The TUC at Bournemouth Sunday 8th September coach leaves from outside British Library, Euston Road at 0745 hours. Free for RMT members £10 others.

Overseas Ownership of Railways
We are disappointed by the RMT press release of June 24, 'RMT AGM hears of full extent of overseas take over of Britain's railways'. We oppose all profiteering ownership of the railways, regardless of the nationality of the owners.

We note the report from the meeting of our London Cycle Hire representatives and members, who are determined to pursue their fight for better treatment at work.

Accordingly, we instruct the General Secretary to:

• promote to members the mass meeting on Tuesday 30 July at 6pm at the Chapel pub, opposite the workplace, by sending a personal invitation by post to every member involved; and through emails and text message reminders
• ensure that at the meeting, up-to-date reports are given from talks with the employer, and on progress in achieving recognition
