Ballot called over Acton Town car park plans

REMOVAL OF CAR PARKING FACILITIES, ACTON TOWN DISTRICT DEPOT - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/2)

The Union declared a failure to agree with London Underground over the Company's decision to remove car parking facilities at Acton Town District Depot which have been in place for over 25 years. It is clear no rational thinking has been used in taking this decision and members should not be forced into longer working days with no secure, reliable car parking facilities.

LUL has told members to use night buses and staff taxi schedules instead, without any additional routes or pick ups/drop off being made to the staff taxi scheduling book. However, this is clearly unsuitable for this extreme depot as many members live well outside the London area and others are not in scope to use the existing taxi schedules.

The National Executive Committee has considered this matter and taken the decision to inform the Company we are now in dispute over this issue and to ballot all Train Operator and Instructor Operator members at Acton Town (District and Piccadilly) Traincrew Depots and all members at Acton REW, Acton Town DSM, Acton Town ERU and Acton Works for strike action and action short of a strike over this issue.

Ballot papers will be posted on Thursday 7th September and the closing date for the ballot is Thursday 28th September 2023. I will keep Branches advised of all further developments.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Lynch
