Letter to LU: Olympics - 'Letter of Interest'

Bob Crow has sent this letter on behalf of RMT to London Underground, which has promised to reply on Monday.

I have received reports that you have circulated an “expression of interest” form to your Driver employees asking them to indicate whether or not they wish to work duties that break existing parameters. The letter that accompanies it states that it has been produced through an agreement with the trade unions. This is not the case as RMT has never agreed to this. We object to this misrepresentation and in particular to the statement “if you do not complete and return this form in sufficient time it will be understood that you are willing to work any duties that are allocated to you”. I should point out that we are yet to come to any agreement on Olympic recognition and reward and any correspondence should not claim otherwise. Our agreements should remain intact and unaltered until such time as agreement is reached. I must therefore urge you to withdraw these forms immediately.

As regard our ongoing talks through ACAS, we are yet to receive your new proposals despite there being an assurance at talks on Tuesday that this would be received by Wednesday morning. I would appreciate if this could be addressed at the earliest opportunity.
