What is a National Executive Committee decision?

This article is an 'executive decision' which has been written by the RMT National Executive Committee. The National Executive is the union's governing body in between AGMs. Its decisions set out what the union will do on a particular issue.

These decisions can often be brief, and may be one of several passed over a period of time. To get a better understanding or find out more information about what the RMT is doing, speak to your rep or attend your branch or Regional Council meeting.

Concern As Tube Lines Workers Medical Cover Is Transferred To New Provider With No Consultation With RMT

We note the correspondence from our lead officer, and share his alarm that Tube Lines has notified members that it to change its occupational health provider from Aviva to Capita without any consultation with this union, and has written to members asking them to sign release forms for their medical information to be transferred to Capita.

We have several serious concerns, in particular regarding how this sensitive information would be protected and what, if any, changes will be made to health provision, for example medicals. We therefore advise members not to sign this release form until proper consultation has taken place with RMT and our concerns dealt with, and instruct the General Secretary to immediately issue a text message, email, letter and circular to members to this effect.

We are further alarmed by the report on file that Tube Lines’ letter advises members that records will be transferred unless they explicitly state that they do not wish them to be. We instruct the General Secretary to urgently obtain legal advice as to whether Tube Lines is acting lawfully.

London Transport Regional Council, LU Engineering and LU Fleet branch to be advised.
