Tube Lines Strikes To Begin On April 24th
The Tube Lines ballot has had an excellent result with 80% of those taking part voting yes to strike action to fight for equal passes and pensions.
A strike will now be called from 16:00hrs on Tuesday 24 April 2012 and return to work for shifts starting after 16:00hrs on Friday 27 April 2012.
The RMT General Grades Committee have made the following decision:

We note this excellent ballot result, which shows the determination of our members on Tube Lines to fight
for equal passes and pensions. We further note the report from our lead officer, who has consulted with our
representatives.
We therefore instruct all RMT members to take strike action as follows: to stop work at 16:00hrs on Tuesday 24
April 2012 and return to work for shifts starting after 16:00hrs on Friday 27 April 2012. We instruct the General
Secretary to send a personal letter by post to all members involved.
We declare our intention to call further action – both strikes and action short – and instruct the General
Secretary to place this matter back in front of us once our lead officer and representatives have made a
recommendation on this.
We further instruct the General Secretary to write to LUL/TfL seeking assurances that all our members’ safety
concerns are met, specifically:
• the safety of our drivers driving over lines without track inspection or signals staff on duty for repairs
and maintenance
• the safety of all staff working within the combine with no Emergency Response Unit (ERU) on duty
• the safety of trains that have not been serviced or prepared by licensed staff
We instruct the General Secretary to write to all members pointing out the procedure to follow if they feel they
are in serious/imminent danger.
We further instruct the General Secretary to prepare press statements explaining the reasons we have been
forced into this action, and pointing out that Tube Lines has been refusing to talk to RMT on these issues as well
as on the Olympics; and to monitor media coverage and respond to inaccurate and anti-union reporting.
