LU Engineering has organised a seminar on 'Organising, Militancy and Revitalisation' Case study of the RMT - looking at the relationship between union militancy, effectiveness in delivering barginaing gains, membership growth and union revitalisation.
Speakers include Bob Crow (RMT General Secretary) and Alex Gordon (RMT National President), along with Professor Ralph Darlington of Salford University.

RMT To Hand Dossier Of Rail Safety Failures To MP’s As Unions Lobby Parliament In Protest At 1500 Maintenance Job Losses
Submitted by Peter on Wed, 27/01/2010 - 00:00RAIL UNION RMT will today (Wednesday 27th January) hand a dossier of safety failures and maintenance cuts to MP’s as rail workers lobby parliament this lunchtime in protest at plans by Network Rail to axe a further 1500 safety-critical jobs.
Hundreds of rail workers have contacted a confidential RMT email line to say lives could be put at risk. The dossier highlights the worst examples of where the scaling back of work and changing standards in preparation for the job cuts are already leading to a serious deterioration in safety.

This year has seen the biggest ever number of prospective delegates to the 2010 Young Members Conference.
BUT... There is still time for members of YOUR branch or regional council to be nominated as a delegate to the Conference, which is being held in Liverpool on the 26th and 27th February, with a social event on the 25th February 2010.
Relaunch of Station and Revenue Grades Committee
Venue: Exmouth Arms, Starcross Street, near Euston.
A meeting for all stations and revenue reps and activists to discuss what is going on in your workkplace, to hear reports from and give feedback to level 2 / tier 2 reps, and to plan our campaigning against job cuts and for a better deal for staff.
Meetings will take place on the first Wednesday of every month; same time, same venue.
Rally and Lobby of Parliament in Fight to Stop Axing of 1500 Safety Critical Rail Maintenance Jobs
A rally and lobby of parliament will take place on Wednesday of 27th January 2010 in the fight to stop the axing of nearly 1500 safety-critical maintenance jobs by Network Rail. A timetable for a national ballot for industrial action by rail maintenance staff will be confirmed shortly.
The severe weather conditions this week have underlined the importance of having proper staffing levels on the rail network with reports that some of the transport problems have been worsened by a shortage of crew to de-freeze tracks and points – and that’s before Network Rail push through a further 1500 job cuts.

RMT Credit Union AGM 2009
The Annual General Meeting of the RMT Credit Union will take place at Unity House on thursday 10th december 2009 at 1pm. All Credit Union members are welcome to attend.
Stratford Number 1 Branch Meeting
Our branch meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month. They begin at 1700 and generally run until 1900.
The meetings are held at 'The Ex-Servicemen’s Club' in Harvey Road, Leytonstone. This is approximately a two minute walk from Leytonstone underground station.
RMT Busworkers Meeting in Battersea
A Busworkers' meeting will take place at The Hope Bar, 8, Heather Close, SW8. The venue is 5 minutes walk from Battersea Bus Depot. The nearest station is Clapham Junction. Bus 156 from the station goes to the bus depot, walk past the depot and it's down the road on the left hand side. The meeting is from 7pm - 10pm on Thursday 29th October 2009. A buffet will be provided.

I am pleased to advise you that we will be holding the RMT Young Members’ Conference in Liverpool on Friday 26th February & Saturday 27th February 2010, with a social event being held at 1900 on Thursday 25th February 2010.
Branches are invited and encouraged to submit resolutions to the conference. These must be relevant to Young Members in the union.
